Travelocity is a well-known travel booking website. It has been around for over 20 years and it has evolved over time.
The question is, does Travelocity offer cheaper deals than other travel websites? Okay, no. Let's be clear. the actual question I want to answer is, "Is Travelocity cheaper than TripPlanet, the travel booking site you can access via Catching Planes?"
Let's find out with a side by side flight search for the same flight on the same date.
Test Flight Details: San Francisco to Cancun roundtrip from March 11th to March 18th.
Travelocity Result: Cheapest flight is a non-stop flight at $399 USD. Not bad.
TripPlanet Result: Cheapest flight is the same non-stop flight as above, but for $366!
As you can see TripPlanet is the no brainer place to book this flight.
This is just one example chosen at random. The truth is that there are other examples with an even greater price difference than this. And, if you think this is great. Hotel discounts are even greater, but I'll do a side by side for that at a later date.
There are many factors which affect the price of flights or hotel rooms. These factors include but are not limited to: seasonality, destination, and popularity of the destination. But, the reality is that the airlines and hotel brands dictate market prices, so you won't find much difference in cost on public sites.
Airlines and hotels use wholesale suppliers to help offload some of their inventory to make sure flight seats and hotel rooms stay booked. The only way to access these platforms is to be part of a large corporation or association and often come at a high subscription cost.
That's where Catching Planes comes in. I've used my connections with these travel suppliers to make a deal to allow my followers to access these deals. The catch is that each of my followers who wants access needs to be a "private user" which means they have to pay a subscription for access in order to comply with airline and hotel market policy.
The good news is that the cost is crazy cheap. We are talking about $15 a year which you will more than make up for on your first flight or hotel booking.
Think it's too good to be true? Try it for yourself at no obligation for 3 days. If you cancel within the 3 days you won't be charged. You can also cancel anytime.
